Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house.
At first, perhaps you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised.
But, presently, He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense. What on earth is He up to?
The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of – throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards.
You thought you were going to be made into a decent little cottage; but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.
C.S. Lewis

Imagine your life as a house—God’s house. When He comes in, He doesn’t just want to visit. He wants to dwell. He wants to rebuild, restore, and renew every room. Here are the rooms God desires to be part of—and transform—in our lives:
The Bedroom – A Place of Prayer
The bedroom is a sanctuary—a place of rest, intimacy, and vulnerability. In the spiritual house, this is where we encounter Prayer.
Colossians 4:2 – “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
This is where we quiet our souls and connect deeply with God, inviting Him into our hearts and daily lives.
The Study – A Place of Learning and Discipleship
The study is a place to go deeper—a room for wisdom, learning, and reflection. Here we pursue Study and Discipleship.
Joshua 1:8 – “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.”
This room builds our foundation of truth and helps us grow in faith and knowledge of God.
The Kitchen – A Place of Fellowship and Relationship
The kitchen is the heart of the home—a gathering space where people come together. Spiritually, this room represents Relationships and Fellowship.
2 Corinthians 5:19 – “…that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.”
This is where we connect with others in grace, share in God’s love, and extend reconciliation.
The Living Room – A Place of Service
The living room is where life happens. We laugh, rest, talk, and connect. In God’s house, this is the place of Service—where our faith comes alive in action.
Luke 12:35 – “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning.”
Here we live out our faith in the ordinary and the extraordinary, serving our families, friends, and communities.
The Garage – A Place of Cleansing and Self-Examination
Garages often store the clutter—old boxes, broken tools, things we’ve avoided dealing with. Spiritually, this is where Self-Examination and Cleansing take place.
Psalm 139:23 – “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.”
God wants to help us sort through the mess, heal old wounds, and make room for new life.
The Foundation – Christ at the Core
Every house needs a solid foundation. Spiritually, our foundation must be Jesus Christ. Without Him, the rest crumbles.
1 Corinthians 3:11 – “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Christ Jesus.”
Christ must not only be part of the house—He must be the foundation. The One we turn to when we make decisions, when we need wisdom, when the world pressures us to compromise.
Matthew 7:24–25 – “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”
Pray that God would truly be the One you lean on in all things. Invite Him into every room of your life—not just to clean, but to dwell, lead, and transform.
